Hunters Chamber of Commerce

Hunters - taken in 1963

Thank you for visiting our site. Please, be our guest and enjoy browsing through our pages.  Remember that we are new to these internet things so will be adding and correcting our pages until we get it right, I’m sure this will be an ongoing project.

The town of Hunters is nestled between the mountains about a mile from Lake Roosevelt in the Columbia River Basin.  We are a small town but can boast that we have the friendliest people.  Mainly the area is a farming community with the added beauty of being one of the best outdoor recreational areas around.  From camp grounds, boat ramps, hiking, water sports, hunting and fishing, there is bound to be something here for you. Once in awhile, we even like to sit back, listen to the birds and admire what God has given us here in Hunters.

Hunters Chamber of Commerce Park

The Chamber of Commerce  meets at 7:00 pm every third Monday of the month at the  Columbia 49ers old  senior center in downtown Hunters.    At these meetings, as well as confronting business growth and tourism, the members strive to solve the problems of maintaining the only park in the town.  The park owned and operated by the Chamber is the main focus of many community functions such as the 4th of July celebration and fireworks display, the annual children’s Easter Egg Hunt,, an annual car and tractor show as well as church functions, picnics and a playground area for the kids.

Once a bustling town in the early 1920′s,  Hunters  had declined since the war and its growth was hindered by the lack of a modern sewer system, a creek running through the town and government and environmentalist red tape, however, the Hunters Chamber of Commerce  has perservered and is confident that some of these problems will be resolved.  In spite of over whelming odds, Hunters and the surrounding communities have seen the coming of advancement  in our community. Sitting atop a knoll is a new ten unit senior complex with a  senior kitchen which serves meals 3 times a week, a Library and meeting place for s
erious Pinochle players.   An upgraded water system is currently being installed to assure safe clean drinking water.
